Individuals interested in receiving winter crisis assistance must have a face-to-face interview at their local energy assistance provider. Find a local provider in your area by calling 1.800.282.0880 or visiting energyhelp.ohio.gov.

Altrusa Club Of Sidney Scholarship Applications
Applicants must be a 2017 graduate, past graduate of a Shelby County High School or a resident of Shelby County for the past five years. They also much be enrolled in a program leading to a masters, bachelor or associate degree. Those eligible may pick up an application from their local high school guidance counselor. Shelby County Retired Teachers Association Annual Scholarship
To be eligible, a student must be enrolled now in a college program in the field of education. The applicant cannot be an upcoming high school graduate. A $500 scholarship is available. Free Smoke Detectors
The Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services reminds residents to check their smoke detectors for readiness to include activation and location. One more item to ponder; sleep with your bedroom door closed. A closed door will slow the spread of smoke, heat and flame. Stop by Fire Station #1 at 222 West Poplar Street to find out if you qualify for a free smoke detector.

Free Smoke Alarms From American Red Cross
Seven times a day, someone dies in a home fire in the United States. The Northern Miami Valley Ohio Red Cross is offering to install free smoke alarms with 10-year lithium batteries to any home in the region. Lockington Volunteer Fire Department Tenderloin Dinner Fundraiser
At the firehouse located on Museum Trail. Serving time is from 5 pm until they are sold out. Guests may dine in or carry out. For questions or to order ahead call Chief Jon Adams at 937.606.0919. Proceeds will be used to pay for training and equipment to protect area citizens and their property.
Soul'd Out Quartet Concert
6 pm at Fletcher UMC located at 205 South Walnut Street. A free will offering will be taken. Enjoy refreshments and fellowship after the concert.

Bark For A Cure Quarter Auction
At the Miami Valley Centre Mall, 987 East Ash Street in Piqua. Doors open at 5:30 pm & auction starts at 6:30 pm. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Bark For Life of Miami County. A canine event to fight cancer!
Growing Women In Agriculture Empowerment Celebration
At St. Michael’s Hall, 33 Elm Street in Fort Loramie from 6 pm – 9 pm. Enjoy keynote speaker Shelly Thobe, a Mercer County native & Director of Innovation for the Wendy’s Company. You will be scheduled for 2 of the 4 sessions, which include old to new, succession, planning, cooking demo & farm safety. Cost is only $20 person with a portion of the fee supporting women in crisis. Registration deadline is March 17th. Sidney-Shelby County Health Department Clean Up Day
